Both Britax recalls posted on this site are taken directly from press releases on the Britax web site.

Britax Child Safety, Inc. announced that it is conducting a safety recall on its CHAPERONE™ Infant Car Seat. The recall includes CHAPERONE Infant Car Seats with Model Numbers of E9L95P2, E9L95P3, E9L95P5, (Sold in Canada) E9L69N9, E9L69P2, E9L69P3, and E9L69P5 (Sold in the US) manufactured between April 2009 and May 2010.

Britax Child Safety, Inc. recently determined that the chest clip supplied with the CHAPERONE Infant Car Seat was incorrectly produced by the manufacturer which resulted in a more brittle chest clip than was intended. As a result, the chest clip which positions the harness straps across the infant’s shoulders may break when the chest clip is engaged as the infant is secured into the infant car seat. The sharp edges of the broken chest clip create a risk of a skin laceration and the fractured components of the chest clip may present a small parts/choking hazard.

To address this issue, BRITAX will provide a free remedy kit that contains a replacement chest clip. An instruction sheet in the remedy kit will provide specific instructions and visuals to aid in installing the replacement chest clip.

All CHAPERONE Infant Car Seat owners should confirm whether their CHAPERONE Infant Car Seat is affected by verifying the car seat model numbers and manufacturing dates: E9L95P2, E9L95P3, E9L95P5, (Sold in Canada) E9L69N9, E9L69P2, E9L69P3, and E9L69P5 (Sold in the US) manufactured between April 2009 and May 2010.

If your chest clip breaks, remove the broken chest clip from the harness along with any fragments. The CHAPERONE Infant Car Seat can continue to be used until the replacement chest clip is installed.

For more information, contact the Britax information line, toll free at 1-888-427-4829.

BRITAX ANNOUNCES VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL: NO INJURIES HAVE BEEN REPORTED

Recall effects all BRITAX Chaperone Infant Car Seats manufactured between September 1, 2010 and April 30, 2011 for Model numbers E9L692J, E9L692K, E9L692L, E9L692M CHARLOTTE, N.C., January 27, 2012: In accordance with the requirements of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), BRITAX Child Safety, Inc. announced today that it is conducting a voluntary safety recall on the Chaperone Infant Car Seat.

The recall includes Chaperone Infant Car Seats manufactured between September 1, 2010 and April 30, 2011 for Model #s E9L692J, E9L692K, E9L692L, and E9L692M.

On the BRITAX CHAPERONE Infant Car Seat, the harness adjuster ensures that the harness straps can be properly tightened and secured over the infant shoulders and is attached to the infant car seat shell.

The rivet used to attach the harness adjuster to the shell may have been improperly installed. As a result, the harness adjuster may detach from the shell. Should the harness adjuster detach from the infant car seat shell the harness straps will not properly secure the child resulting in increased risk of injury in a vehicle crash.

IF the harness adjuster on your Chaperone Infant Car Seat detaches, please discontinue use of the product immediately and contact our Customer Service Department at 1-
888-427-4829.

To address this issue, BRITAX is providing a remedy kit including a harness adjuster clip and instructions for properly installing it. All Chaperone Infant Car Seat owners should confirm whether their child restraint is affected by verifying the date of manufacture and model number. No later than February 6, 2012, remedy kits and instructions for using them, will begin shipping to all registered Chaperone Infant Car Seat owners with affected seats.

Consumers who have not registered their product or need to verify existing registration should contact the BRITAX information line, toll free at (888) 427-4829 between 8:30 am – 4:45 pm (EST) Monday – Thursday, between 8:30 am – 3:45 pm (EST) on Friday or visit www.britaxusa.com (see “Safety Notice” link).

Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc. is voluntarily recalling from retailers one lot of AVEENO® BABY CALMING COMFORT® LOTION (full product details below) in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas. This is not a consumer level recall and no action is required by consumers.

This recall is being initiated as a precautionary measure after testing of a product sample by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). That test indicated that the lot exceeded the specifications for common bacteria, though extensive testing by an independent laboratory afterward did not show that specifications were exceeded. However, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc. has voluntarily initiated this recall out of an abundance of caution. This action is not being undertaken on the basis of adverse events and the potential for adverse health effects is remote. Other lots of AVEENO® BABY CALMING COMFORT® LOTION are not affected by this recall and remain available.

This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the FDA.

Consumers who would like a refund or coupon, or who have questions or concerns about the recalled product, should call our Consumer Call Center at 1-877-298-2525 (available Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time).
