Hazard: The garments have a drawstring through the hood which can pose a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines (pdf) to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: This recall involves girls’ hooded sleeveless vests with drawstrings sold in sizes 2 through 10. The vests were sold in two colors: blue with pink flowers and black with white polka dots. Both styles have a fake fur trim around the hood and a black sweater-like knit trim at the armholes and waist. The vests have an interior zipper covered by an exterior flap closure and a sewn-in neck tag that reads “mim-pi.”

Sold at: Children’s clothing stores nationwide from January 2009 through December 2009 for about $70.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the recalled garments to eliminate the hazard. Consumers can also return the vests to the place of purchase for a store credit.

The tag on the inside of the sweatshirts reads, “2b REAL.” The sweatshirts were sold in hot pink, light pink, ivory and khaki, and in sizes 4, 5/6 and 6X.

Description: This recall involves boy’s hooded sweatshirts style B639BC in colors black, chocolate and charcoal. The velour sweatshirts were sold in sizes S, M, L, or XL and have the name “Beverly Hills Polo Club” on the hangtag and on the center back neck.

Sold at: Burlington Coat Factory nationwide from September 2007 through October 2009. The sweatshirts sold for about $15.

Hazard: Molded rubber pieces on the sole of the recalled shoes can detach, posing a choking hazard to infants and young children.

Incidents/Injuries: No incidents have been reported in the United States. In the United Kingdom there have been six reports of the rubber pieces detaching, including two reports of children mouthing the rubber piece. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves Clarks® children’s shoes sold under the “crawlers” and “hazy daze” style names. The crawlers were sold in infant sizes 2 to 3 1/2; and the hazy daze in sizes 4 to 6 1/2. “Clarks” is printed on the sole underneath the heel and the words “Clarks First Shoes” is printed on a multi-colored label inside the shoe’s heel area. Description: The cotton hoodie, which zips in front and has a drawstring at the waist, came in gray with blue lining and cherry with lavender lining. They were sold in girls’ sizes SML-XL. ROXY is printed on the front of the gray hoodie and on the neck label on both colors. The style number, B487857, is printed on the inside care label near the waist.

Description: The July 2008 recall involved two Taggies™ Sleep ‘n Play style infant garments: the Butterfly Applique’ and the Fun Dog Print. Subsequent to the recall, two additional Taggies Sleep ‘n Play styles, manufactured before July 1, 2008, were identified as also having snap issues. The recall has now been expanded to involve the Dinosaur Applique’ and the Pink Toss Print styles. The infant garments are one piece footed coveralls with snaps down the front. These garments were sold in sizes 0-3 months, 3-6 months, and 6-9 months. RN #27829 is printed on the care label sewn into the garment. Style numbers are printed on the hangtag of the garments.
