Name of Product: “Shrek Forever After 3D” Collectable Drinking Glasses

Units: About 12 million

Manufacturer: ARC International, of Millville, NJ.

Distributor: McDonald’s Corp., Oakbrook, Ill.

Hazard: The designs on the glasses contain cadmium. Long term exposure to cadmium can cause adverse health effects.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The “Shrek Forever After 3D” collectable drinking glass are 16 ounce glasses that came in four designs, Shrek, Fiona, Puss n’ Boots, and Donkey.

Sold exclusively at: McDonald’s restaurants nationwide from May 2010 into June 2010 for about $2.

Manufactured in: United States

Remedy: McDonald’s is asking consumers to immediately stop using the glass out of an abundance of caution. Visit www.mcdonalds.com for additional instructions on how to obtain a full refund.

Name of Product: Sport Cap 2.0 water bottle spouts

Units: About 1.2 million in the United States and 102,000 in Canada

Manufacturer: Klean Kanteen Inc., of Chico, Calif.

Hazard: The water bottle spouts can break or crack, posing a choking hazard to children and adults.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received six reports of incidents of the water bottle spouts breaking or cracking in children’s mouths as they were drinking from the bottles. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The Sport Cap 2.0 water bottle spouts are made of black plastic and have an attachment loop. “Klean Kanteen” is stamped into the side of the cap.

Sold at: Outdoor sports stores, including LLBean, and grocery and specialty stores nationwide, and on the Web at www.llbean.com from April 2009 through April 2010 for $5 for the spout and between $15 and $28 when sold with a stainless steel water bottle.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Klean Kanteen to receive a free mailing envelope to return the water bottle spout and to receive a free replacement.

Flatware Recalled by Cambridge Silversmiths Due to Choking Hazard

Name of Product: Fiesta Masquerade and Home Olympic Flatware

Units: About 13,000

Distributor: Cambridge Silversmiths Ltd. Inc., of Fairfield, N.J.

Hazard: The plastic decorative inserts on the flatware’s handles can detach during dishwashing, posing a choking hazard to children.

Incidents/Injuries: The company has received 28 reports of a plastic insert detaching from the flatware. One incident of injury reported, no specifics provided.

Description: This recall involves the Fiesta Masquerade and the Home Olympic 20- piece flatware sets. The Fiesta Masquerade flatware set is silver-colored and the handles have plastic decorative inserts in red, orange, yellow, green and three different shades of blue. The Home Olympic flatware sets are charcoal and the handles have decorative black inserts.

Sold exclusively at: Fiesta Masquerade at JC Penney, Federated Department Stores, Bealls and Homer Laughlin from November 2008 through May 2009 for about $70 per 20-piece set; Home Olympic at Target from August 2008 through August 2009 for about $30 per 20-piece set.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled flatware sets immediately and contact the company to return the product and obtain a free replacement.
