Walgreen Co. is voluntarily recalling certain lots of 13-oz. Walgreens Chocolate-Covered Raisins because the packages may contain Walgreens Bridge Mix with peanut, almond and soy ingredients.

The error occurred when Walgreens Bridge Mix was mistakenly packaged with the Walgreens Chocolate-Covered Raisin labeling. Walgreens discovered the incident after receiving a consumer complaint of an allergic reaction. The product manufacturer, GKI Foods, Inc. of Brighton, Mich., is also cooperating in the voluntary recall.

Walgreen Co. has already instructed stores to stop selling the affected product, which can be identified as a blue and white plastic bag with chocolate-covered raisins pictured on the front and the following identifying information on the back label: best by date of “Oct 42012A1″, UPC number 04902245661, and item number 280217. The affected product was distributed through Walgreen Co. distribution centers in Arizona, Connecticut and California and to Walgreens retail stores in the Northeastern and Western United States. Customers who have purchased the product may return it to Walgreens for a full refund.

Out of regard and concern for our consumers, Pinnacle Foods Group LLC is recalling certain Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes. The product may contain soy protein, an undeclared allergen. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy protein may run the risk of an allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The voluntary recall was initiated after the Company discovered there may have been a potential cross-contact with product that contained soy protein being produced on the same equipment. There have been no reports of illness as a result of this incident. The Food and Drug Administration has been made aware of this recall.

This recall applies only to the following products: “AUNT JEMIMA FROZEN PANCAKES” packaged in cardboard cartons with the UPC codes listed below, which were sold and distributed nationally, with a ‘Recommended Use By Date’ between November 1, 2011 up to and including October 16, 2012. This date can be found in the white box on the end of the carton.

D. F. Stauffer Biscuit Co., Inc. is voluntarily recalling one specific lot of Safeway Snack Artist Sugar Free Bite-Sized Chocolate Chip Cookies because they contain undeclared milk and eggs. People with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk or eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product. Symptoms may include itching, hives, wheezing, vomiting, anaphylaxis and digestive problems, such as bloating, gas or diarrhea. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall affects only Safeway Snack Artist Sugar Free Bite-Sized Chocolate Chip Cookies bearing the Best By date of 07-11-12 and Lot # L07112B packaged in 10 oz clear plastic tubs and sold in Safeway, Carrs, Dominick’s, Genuardi’s, Pak ‘N Save, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb and Vans. The Best By date and Lot Number are printed on the product lid.

The products were distributed across the United States. No other lots or products are affected. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the incorrect rear label was applied to the container and the presence of the milk and eggs was not declared. Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. No other flavors of UNCLE BEN’s® Whole Grain White Rice or any other UNCLE BEN’s® products are affected.

Our dedication to safe clean raw milk reaches far beyond required State of California standards.

Organic Pastures was informed earlier this afternoon by the California Department of Public Health and California Department of Food and Agriculture that over the course of an eight week period earlier this year, five people tested positive for E. Coli O157:H7; these five consumers reported drinking raw milk.

It is a common goal of Organic Pastures and the California Department of Public Health to rapidly investigate any linkage between these cases and raw milk. Each month CDFA tests all Organic Pastures’ products for pathogens, in addition Organic Pastures uses a third party for pathogen testing multiple times per week. All these tests have been negative. It has been reported to us by the California Department of Public Health that as of today all products collected from the ill patients have been negative for E. Coli 0157:H7.

Organic Pastures, in a collaborative effort with the California Department of Public Health and the California Department of Food and Agriculture, is diligently working to quickly resolve this investigation. During this time our raw dairy products will not be available for sale. Our USDA Organic Beef, Truly Raw Cheese, and Organic Pastured Eggs will not be affected by this investigation.

The J.M. Smucker Company today announced a limited voluntary recall on two specific Best-If-Used-By dates of 16 oz. Smucker’s® Natural Peanut Butter Chunky because it may be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. No illnesses related to this issue have been reported and the product is being recalled out of an abundance of caution for consumer safety.

The recall was initiated as the result of a routine sampling program by the company, which revealed that these finished products may contain the bacteria.

Consumers who have purchased Smucker’s Natural Peanut Butter Chunky with the above Production Code and Best-If-Used-By dates are urged to discard the product immediately and call the company at 1-888-550-9555 for a replacement coupon. The company may require proof of purchase.  Rice-A-Roni has initiated a voluntary recall on a small quantity of specific family-size boxes of Rice-A-Roni Rice Pilaf flavor due to an undeclared milk allergen.  This product was originally distributed to stores located in California and Arizona. People who are allergic to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The affected product is limited to 10.8 ounce family-size boxes of Rice-A-Roni Rice Pilaf flavor with the UPC Bar Code ending in 43004 and Best Before Date of JUL 30 12 B stamped on the bottom of the box. Consumers with a milk allergy who have this product in their possession should return it to the retailer where it was purchased for a full refund.

No other Rice-A-Roni or Pasta Roni products are affected. People who do not have milk allergies can eat this product without concern.

Rice-A-Roni is in the process of recovering the product involved and is in contact with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ensure the continued safety of those consumers who may be impacted by this issue.

Working in consultation with the United States Food and Drug Administration, Rite Aid has initiated a voluntary chainwide recall of approximately 85,000 tins of butter cookies distributed by Rite Aid under the Rich Fields brand name because of the possibility of contamination with Bacillus cereus. This microorganism may cause diarrhea, nausea and/or vomiting; however, the possibility of serious adverse health consequences is remote.

This recall affects only 12 oz. tins featuring either a decorative castle or Christmas designs and sold exclusively in Rite Aid stores. Affected products can be identified by the UPC codes 01249596519 and 88411804619 located directly beneath the bar code on the bottom of each tin. No other Rich Fields or Rite Aid brand products are affected by this voluntary recall.

The recall was initiated after the company conducted quality testing on the affected product because of an uncharacteristic odor. Customers should not eat the cookies and can return them to any Rite Aid store for a full refund.
