ConAgra Foods, in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is voluntarily recalling a limited number of 15 oz. tubs of Blue Bonnet Spread that were inadvertently mispackaged—the lid is for regular Blue Bonnet Spread and the tub portion describes the product as Blue Bonnet Light Spread. The product inside of the tub is regular Blue Bonnet Spread. As a result, the product tubs do not declare the allergen whey (milk), as an ingredient. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. No allergic reactions have been reported. This issue affects only 1,120 cases of a single lot code of the product. The product UPC on the tub is 27000-00930. The product lid will not have the blue ribbon graphic bearing the word “Light” that is found on the tub portion of the package. The rim of the lid will feature the batch code “2247923200″ and a Sell By date of March 18, 2010. ConAgra Foods became aware of the issue after receiving a report from a store where the tub did not match the lid or the case. The company is issuing a news release and an alert through the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) (www.foodallergy.org), in an effort to notify any potentially affected consumers. ConAgra Foods will work with retail customers to ensure that the recalled products are removed from store shelves.

In the event that consumers believe they have purchased products affected by this voluntary recall, they should return the product to the store where it was purchased for a full refund. Consumers with questions may call 866-518-4177 (9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CST daily) or visit www.bluebonnet.com for more information.

Pinnacle Foods Group LLC, a Fort Madison, Iowa, establishment, is recalling approximately 91,125 pounds of a canned chili with beans product because it was inadvertently packaged with an incorrect flag on the plastic over-wrap and may contain an undeclared allergen, wheat, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today. Wheat is a known potential allergen and the plastic over-wrap incorrectly bears the statement “Gluten Free,” since the product actually contains wheat.

The following product is subject to recall:

Cases containing six (6) 15-ounce cans of “ARMOUR Chili with Beans, Original.” The plastic over-wrap incorrectly bears the statement “Gluten Free,” while the product actually contains wheat, as well as the establishment number “EST. 2AD” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The chili products were produced on various dates ranging from August 26, 2009 to October 28, 2009, and were distributed to retail stores in Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia.

The problem was discovered after the company received a consumer inquiry. FSIS has received no reports of illness due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an allergic reaction should contact a physician.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.

Consumer and media questions regarding the recall should be directed to the company’s hotline at 1-800-253-5882.

Today, Mars Snackfood US announced a voluntary recall of its Dove Caramel Pecan Perfection ice cream with the lot number 931AB5YN07 because it may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. No related illnesses have been reported to date. For consumers who do not suffer from a peanut allergy or sensitivity, this product is safe to eat. The lot number is found on the bottom of the containers.

This voluntary recall is limited to this specific lot number (931AB5YN07) and was distributed only in the United States, and specifically to the following states: AL, CO, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MN, NC, OH, OR, TX, UT, WA and WI.

Dove Caramel Pecan Perfection is sold in a brown and gold 15.10 fl. oz. pint container and pictures a ribbon of caramel, pecans and a square of Dove® Brand Chocolate on the front.

The voluntary recall was initiated after Dove Caramel Pecan Perfection containing peanuts in lot number 931AB5YN07 was discovered. Mars Snackfood US was able to quickly confirm that only this lot is affected and, out of an abundance of caution, issued a voluntary recall for potentially affected containers of the ice cream.

In the event that consumers believe they have purchased products affected by this voluntary recall, they should return the product to the store where they purchased it for a full refund. Consumers with questions may call our toll-free number: 800-551-0895 between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM Monday – Friday.

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker today alerted consumers that Agro Foods Inc., in Cliffside Park, New Jersey, is recalling “Agro Sun Dried Fruits and Nuts Tropical Mix” due to the presence of undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.

The recalled “Agro Sun Dried Fruits and Nuts Tropical Mix” are packaged in 24 ounce (680 gram), round plastic tubs and coded best before 12/10 in black ink on the product label. Known distribution of the product is the New York Metropolitan area.
